Going to St. Ives

I took a trip to the St. Ives a few weeks ago, I went to Iowa to visit my grandfather. During my visit there, I was staying in the pipe-bombing vicinity. I have been driving across the country my whole life, literally, and never in my many visits to the heartland has terrorism played such a large role. The irony for me was it was old and rural folks who need their mail more than anyone, these are the very people we should be protecting, the people who the governement aren't listening to?

Driving across Kansas like a bat, I thought of Bob Dole and photographed these rolling hills. I listened to the BBC World Service for many hours the day the Dutch politician was assassinated. These two events have motivated me to ask the question, how accessible are
our public servants on the internet? Governments are often criticized for being inaccessible. I realize the digital divide is huge but if I had access to the internet, how much of my time would be wasted with public servants who cannot be accessed at all on the web or only accept 200 words and can respond only to constituents? Look for The 2002 Democracy Action Project.

Also looking forward to ranking world and local governement sites, so far Ireland is the most user-friendly.

So I'm sending some email to the leaders of the free world. Some may
respond. We shall see.
Thanks.
