The Pigeon Administration

Ahhh, coup-ing and pooping on people, the wonderful, sweet, carefree life of the pigeon.

Unfortunately, our current administration's habits frighteningly ape that of the pigeon, a fact they have proven time and time again. Most recently, the Bushies, no strangers to coup d'etats themselves, tried to help "businessman" Pedro Carmona Estanga take over control of Venezuela from that infamous "axis of evil" lover Hugo Chavez.

Now, let's get this out of the way immediately. Neither Carmona nor Chavez deserve to be centerfold in Presidential Ethics magazine. Carmona, upon taking power, immediately sought to suspend the country's constitution, suspend upcoming free elections, and toss out big business regulation. Chavez, on the other hand, has become buddies with the original Generalisimo, Fidel Castro, in addition to other improprieties along the lines of abuse of power. Let's just say, these guys are like most American politicians.

It is important to note that only one major country supported the coup: America. Even Dub's drinkin' buddy, Vicente Fox. El Presidente of Mexico, crapped on the coup attempt. Considering this, and some of the actions the Bushies undertook after the coup, as in immediately recognizing the legitimacy of the new government (I guess the Venezuelan Supreme Court hadn't stepped in yet), and offering advice and support, it's not a stretch to think the Bushies had something to do with the coup. And if you think that's implausible, then I invite you to examine Exhibit A, released "information" on Project FUBELT, or America's Chile bake in the 1970s.

But what I don‚t understand is what the Pigeon Administration had to gain by helping Carmona — outside of practice for 2004. Disclaimer: This is all based on the assumption that the Bushies did help Carmona. Many believe that this is all about oil, which has been the overwhelming centerpiece for the Pigeon Administration — even more so than the war on terrorism. However, Carmona made it known immediately that he did not intend to comply with OPEC supply regulations. Ya see, Carmona is a "businessman,"one with a lot of ties to other "businessmen"in the oil industry. Venezuela is the fourth largest exporter in the world, and the third largest to the US. They intended to over-supply the oil market, not flood, necessarily, in order to make some quick money from oil's current slightly inflated price. Because Venezuela's supply is really just a trickle compared to what Saudi Arabia could produce, the price of oil would be slightly depressed due to supply and demand economics, but why wait until later to make money when you can make a lot now? The price of oil on April 12 and April 15 reflects each administrations take on following OPEC as Chavez was complying with the cabal's rules.

Technically, if there were more oil on the market, the Bushies would have less reason to drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve (ANWR). The fact that the U.S. has to import so much oil, according to the Bushies, is in itself a national security risk — I think light pink on the new system. However, the Bushies and their closest buddies and contributers don‚t rely on oil the commodity. Instead, they sell the oil services equipment — rigs, pipelines, etc. — in order to make their money. No drilling, no money.

No, I think the Bushies had something else in mind when helping Carmona overthrow Chavez. Nobody, and I mean not even if they are a President, is allowed to disagree with the Bushies on their foreign policy. Chavez has not played ball with the Bushies‚ Orwellian "War on Terrorism,"and that kind of attitude cannot be tolerated. By putting a mirror image Pigeon Administration in Venezuela, the Bushies will no longer have to tolerate another outspoken voice with the extra added bonus of installing a business-first-at-all-costs President into power. After all, when Venezuela starts to produce more oil, they are going to need equipment, and don't you think they'll remember what Bush and Dick Cheney did for the new President? Halliburton, Cheney's old employer, would stand to make a fortune.
